Well rehearsed and choreographed with multiple takes to make entertaining videos. Sure, he can control the car and do some pretty neat tricks, but to climb to the top spot he must compete against other drivers and prove himself, not just submit an expensive promo video. Fun, but not important.

pmsl, thats the funniest thing i heard all weekend
he sucks, simples. He's a showman and thats why he got entertained in the wrc, he even got continualy beaten by travis pastrana in the US rally series.
all his vids are just flashy show pieces.

Now here are some truly great drivers
Ari Vatanen One of the few drivers as committed if not moreso that McRae.
Jeff Zwart Not too shabby
Walter RohrlThe grandaddy - this is genius driving for most - and he is just having a bit of fun in the wet!

Enigmatic, fast for a short duration, entertaining, fearless. McRae was all these things, but the best, not even close.

Ken Block has not proved himself at all in the WRC.
As for who is the best well you can only compare drivers alongside others from the same era. McRae was probably one of the greatest but how would he compare against Vatanen who had the same ***** out driving style.
Likewise Rohl drove in an era where there were a whole lot more guys out there that could win a rally whereas Loeb, brilliant though he is, has not has that much competition these past few years.

dont think anyone hates him parsay, the issue is he drives on courses he knows, courses he's driven 20 times, if you notice when ever he's filmed there always plenty of marks on the road where he practised.
his video's do look pretty cool and most poeple don't twig that its been done multiple times before to practise so are staged.
the difference between this and wrc drivers is the wrc drives a road once, without practise and just some rough directions.

Vatanen was the man! Some fantastic F1 drivers too that could fill the top spot I'm sure. F1 is a bit too precise and boring for me though, prefer just watching natural talent having to adapt to a rally stage. WRC is pretty boring now too, with people just buying seats etc.
