Best driver in the world?

Mr. Block is on a different level. and.... how good is that Fiesta? Awesome chassis. |
|
Best in the world? hardly, notice how he smacks the wall on the first drift he initiates and thats on an edited vid with probably 10 takes per corner :lol1:
|
I would be more impressed if he set a fastest stage time on a WRC event.
|
Well rehearsed and choreographed with multiple takes to make entertaining videos. Sure, he can control the car and do some pretty neat tricks, but to climb to the top spot he must compete against other drivers and prove himself, not just submit an expensive promo video. Fun, but not important.
|
Who is he?

Not another Block the cóck video :D
|
pmsl, thats the funniest thing i heard all weekend :)
he sucks, simples. He's a showman and thats why he got entertained in the wrc, he even got continualy beaten by travis pastrana in the US rally series. all his vids are just flashy show pieces. |
Just looking at his WRC performance should tell you that driving round in circles does not make you a god behind the wheel.
|
Dont see why he should be run down for his car control abilities.

The past - I think Tommi Mäkinen and Juha Kankkunen warrant a mention (4 WRC wins apiece)

What is this Gymkhana thing anyway :wonder:
Is it like autotesting for people with too much money :cuckoo: |
Ahhhhh I get it we are all hating block because he aint got an impreza any more! Fair enough, I don´t like gymkana 1 anymore! Not at all not one bit, it´s actually quite boring!
|
Now here are some truly great drivers
Ari Vatanen One of the few drivers as committed if not moreso that McRae. Jeff Zwart Not too shabby Walter RohrlThe grandaddy - this is genius driving for most - and he is just having a bit of fun in the wet! |

Ken Block has not proved himself at all in the WRC.
As for who is the best well you can only compare drivers alongside others from the same era. McRae was probably one of the greatest but how would he compare against Vatanen who had the same balls out driving style. Likewise Rohl drove in an era where there were a whole lot more guys out there that could win a rally whereas Loeb, brilliant though he is, has not has that much competition these past few years. I never thought much of him even when he was driving an impreza. He's a showman. Best driver in the world? He doesn't even come close.:nono: |
dont think anyone hates him parsay, the issue is he drives on courses he knows, courses he's driven 20 times, if you notice when ever he's filmed there always plenty of marks on the road where he practised.
his video's do look pretty cool and most poeple don't twig that its been done multiple times before to practise so are staged. the difference between this and wrc drivers is the wrc drives a road once, without practise and just some rough directions. |
Vatanen was the man! Some fantastic F1 drivers too that could fill the top spot I'm sure. F1 is a bit too precise and boring for me though, prefer just watching natural talent having to adapt to a rally stage. WRC is pretty boring now too, with people just buying seats etc.
|
Vatanen in a Peugeot 205 T16 - awesome speed, sound, commitment - insane
|
Yep, spent many an hour in a cold dark wet forest in the 80s waiting for him to appear.
Chip |
I wouldn't say he was the best driver in the world, but he's a really nice bloke who loves the WRC and does a hell of a lot for the sport.
|
There are a lot of names I would put above this guy, and thats just for the world of WRC. F1, NASCAR, Indy etc etc....
He is a decent driver, but nothing special. |
