Who's demanding what from ISP's
Remember ACS law and its request to ISP's for the details of people it believed were file sharing....
It would appear they aren't alone in requesting data from ISP's
Just read in Micro mart that s*ny have requested data from you tube in relation to a video posted.
Turns out a certain person has hacked the PS3 and its copy protection, and posted a vid on you tube of how he did it...
S*ny issued a court order to said person and the vid was pulled.
End of ...........
Not quite.... it would also appear that said corporate giant, has contacted youtube and asked it to name any persons who viewed the vid, and release there ISP data, ..
The article states the outcome isn't clear, and doesn't know if Google will comply, but concludes its a worrying new trend

It is interesting, the act of 'watching' something illegal is in most instances not illegal. The most notable exception being child pornography, where watching is a specific offence.
So I can't see Sony winning the battle to get user data unless they can persuade a judge that toying with a game console is on par with peadophilia ...

It is lucky that your can't easily burn a video to CD/DVD or copy it to a USB flash drive and then give it to your friends!!

Sony have previous for stuff like this, rootkits on cd's anyone ?
I personally didn't watch it but would have done just to see how it was done, that does not make me a criminal, just an interested techie, Sony need to back off and also improve their security if they want to avoid this, plus they need to realise they are a consumer electronics maker, not the Chinese Government or Skynet !
Nobody cares with the PS3 anyway.
