A little help from the fish people please.
I am thinking about adopting a 'syndontis' hybrid catfish, although it is difficult to see exactly what he may be my research has shown that they are generally a plesant fish when kept with fish who are compatible.
Does anyone/has anyone here keep any of these? How big have they grown? And how have they behaved with the other fish?
I have a 350l tank and he is 5" long, but hasn't grown in the last two years.
Thanks for reading

yep i had 1 and trust me they get massive mine got to around 10-12" in 18mths
he was very passive tho also know as the upside down catfish
suprised that he is only 5" after 2 yrs but as there are so many diffrent species he may stay small
mine was in a 180 gallon tank so not really a problem for me but if he did get to 12" in a 350 ltr tank it would be way to big

A shame really, but I need to make sure he would be ok if I took him.

Post a pic, this group of fish is massive from the tiny to the common to the v.expensive. I have kept loads of synodontis of various types and they are pretty gregarious with similar sized tanks mates. The only problem you may incur is when they get to a certain size they may become mildly territorial with similar bottom feeders. Nothing nicer than a shoal of dontis

as said i had a big tank and he was a big boy lol but from what i can make out the growing to tank size is all rubbish it may slow them down but they will still get to full size in time
do a google search as there are a lot of slightly diffrent species of them and your one may be a small one (hopefully) and be fine in your tank as they are a lovely catfish
i just love all catfish and would have a tank of them and nowt else
if he is 4 yr old i would think he is fully grown tho as mine grew so quick it was amazing

Kept a single synodontis acanthomias in a medium sized (5ft) tank, they do grow big. Dont underestimate the size of their mouths, they they will use their whiskers to guide any fish towards their mouths, and if it fits its food.
Lovely specimen though - I love all cat-fish.

I am already running three tanks, although two are considerably smaller than my 350l.
I simply don't have enough room yet, and I am not a crazy fish person with dozens of tanks.... Yet
