It was an awful sight and nothing seemed to have been done about it.
And what exactly where they supposed to do about it? risk life to go and remove them from the ice?

It must be very upsetting to see that, it bothered me seeing the picture.

Hard to know what they could do about it, apart from closing the park or shutting that particular bit down if possible.

Not good for children to see that even if people say it is educational.

Do you have a method for teaching buildings?

Animal expert Phil Gates said: 'This kind of tragedy does happen with wild animals.
'Sometimes, when lakes freeze, the water level beneath the ice drops down, making the ice on top even more fragile.

Such a shame. I can imagine that some children and parents may have got quite distressed at the site of it all.

My children however possibly wouldn't be bothered. We have been unfortunate to have had deaths in the family, and I try hard to be honest and truthful about death so that they understand where people have gone.

It does backfire sometimes when my daughter says things like "she is going to die, because she is old" or the classic line, "is Caroline in HAVEN now mummy?". Yes darling, with Bradley bear abd all the other 'british holiday' folk!

Logically there isn't much that can be done. I doubt very much closing the park would have even registered so close to Christmas.
