Ford to sell LR & Jag
Sorry if it's a SIAL... hardly surprising this, just hope those VC muppets don't get their hands on LR:

Quite big news, if not slightly unsuprising:
Jaguar is a loss maker; The company has lacked innovation. Partly due to its owners being prioritsed towards Land Rover and Aston Martin. Leaving Jaguar on the back burner; sharing dated chassis platforms and not enough effort to produce new models that are inspiring enough to the public to sell. Bland would be a word that springs to mind. New cars are in the pipeline, but they are just taking too long....yet despite all this; Jaguar has made some stunning concept cars, which it refused to produce. Probably on cost grounds, stifling the company's prospects - shame.
The worrying thing is, if Ford cannot afford to hang on to Jaguar...Who will? Land Rover being bundled into the deal is probably a sugar coating - as succesfull as LR is, its had heavy investment and still needs much more as it can only recycle its current platform so many times (Range Rover, Sport, Defender etc).
Good luck to the buyers - they will need it IMO

If theres a worldwide economic slump (which is likely, booms dont last forever) and oil prices continue to remain very high then surely big 4x4's will become increasingly unrealistic as a mode of urban transport, and demand will slump.

Yeah was about to add - LR is booming at the moment, but now even in the US theyre moving away from 4x4's.
