Has to be The Grosvenor.

If you need to bring the nanny, she can have a cheap room at my Gaff

Chester....................not too far from the Evo Triangle FTW

Another worth considering is Hoole Hall, now known as the Hilton Double tree. Maybe 3 miles from centre but has nice grounds........which the Grosvenor doesn't.

There's also a new development by the race course but can't seem to find anything, am sure it's open and should be pretty good.

Edit - here you go, The Abode http://www.chester360.co.uk/hotels-i...de-chester.htm

Hoole Hall looks like the best compromise - it has the spa thing, nice rooms and is not as eat wateringly expensive as the Grosvenor which has mostly good but some bad reviews on noise and quality. The rooms in the pics of the Grosvenor website have a lot of '90s hotel furniture in them!

Looks like Hoole Hall it is thanks as I did not find this listed elsewhere.

Surely a good enough reason NOT to stay at the Queens then.

Chip
We tried Green Bough first and it could not fulfil the nights we wanted to book. In fact what they said was they had an unconfirmed provisional booking and so could not take my booking.

I work in services and if I have a provisional booking and someone comes along with a real booking I will tell the provy they have 24 hours to confirm or I will take the booking.

They didn't want to do that. Oh well

Abode looked nice and would be a dead cert for the races. Hoole Manor looked more characterful, even for a Hilton, and seems to have a more extensive Spa for the missus as it is her birthday.

Thanks - I use them regularly - they don't always cover Hilton and the Grosvenor was £1,200 for four nights even with the discount! Ouch!

I use laterooms a lot as well but I always also check room prices directly with the hotel as they are sometimes cheaper than laterooms.

Yes it's lovely. Really well maintained, and the staff are (well, were) nice and friendly.

My brother was a chef there before he went in the army.
