Bloody Garages
I sent the nanny to get the nanny car serviced (Suzuki).
They said the car needed two new alloy wheels as they were 'badly buckled' due to hitting a pothole. She brought the car back and I drove it. No vibration very smooth. Looking at the wheels I could see no buckling.
Just had the tyres changed - wheels off, absolutely perfect, balanced easily.
Cheeky f**king Suzuki garage!!!
Is it because she is a nanny?! (To help here is a pic of her taken by my son - unfortunately in this one he just wasn't quick enough!)

It could be a Suzuki thing, I've been looking at Suzuki Grand Vitaras as a run about to drive to work in back and a bit of light off roading, all the forums I've looked at seem to be complaing about dealers claiming bits need replacing when ok - mostly corrosion problems on brake disks on the grand vitaras that are not covered by warranty ! There also an article about the same thing in a old 4x4 mag I've just picked up
Could be worth taking it to a different garage and asking them to check them

I've seen plenty of bent/buckled wheels balance and drive perfectly (well, below 100mph at least). Car drives fine, but when the wheel is spun slowely on a tyre balancer whilst looking perpendicular to the wheel face, one can see the wheel runs out of true (or the tyre has excessive run-out - common on Dunlops for some unexplicable reason).
I've inadvertantly bent the wheels on both my old Escort and works Rover (flat spotted them), but both drove fine until I went above 100mph.
Generally speaking, because the tyres is flixible, it compensates for most irregularities in the wheel, unless excessive.

Doubtful; they'd be too busy sniffing the driver's seat to notice the wheels

They have just been to a decent tyre place where they checked them for buckling and they said they were perfect. They checked them with the tyres off.

Make sure you're checking for buckling on the inside of the wheel. Wheels buckle more easily to the side which isn't strengthened by the spokes. Just jacking it up and getting your head under whilst spinning the wheel will show it up. MOT fail in bad cases.

Trout cant help himself. I wonder if the nanny knows he's posting pics of her on here?

If you want to read this as 'I've got a nanny' then go ahead! I suspect that says more about you than about me.
I actually posted it as I believe that young girl goes to main dealer who tries to rip her off for £500 is a valid criticism of dealers. And the reason why she took it - it's her car!

"I demand you take your car to the garage..."
Only kidding.

The Suzuki garage quoted £170 plus VAT and fitting...
... per corner for tyres!!!
This is on top of suggesting £120 for an ECU reflash.
As I was saying above I think these are 'nanny' prices.
