jeepers 30 years ago, I didnt know it was that long ago. Says he died of an asbestos related issue too?

Bloody hell, some guys spent years dismantling asbestos protection free and never died/died that early.

i believe he insisted his occupation was recorded as "Racing Driver" on his driving licence

and a fan of the original Mini Cooper S - style and taste

Not quite, more likely when he was exposed to asbestos in the army.

It took quite a while to cremate him

Merchant Marine.... he blew up a tin of beans and as punishment was ordered to strip asbestos from pipework, that was that

I read somewhere that the face masks he used for racing were soaked in

asbestos, that cant have been good either.

He was not only a very good actor but was also an able person who could handle machinery with the best.
