Default Samsung Galaxy S update 2.2 Froyo has been released

http://news.softpedia.com/news/Andro...K-164819.shtml

It looks like Galaxy S owners in the UK are finally receiving their Android 2.2 Froyo upgrade, after many months of waiting. The Korean manufacturer has previously announced that the upgrade will be available for UK users of the Galaxy S sometime in November.

We've been tipped by a reader that the long awaited Android 2.2 upgrade is now available in the UK as a legitimate download through the latest version of the Samsung Kies software.

Our tipster say he has been running the latest Android flavor for more than two hours without any problems. Software version after the upgrade is “Baseband version I9000JPP”, “Build number: FROYO.XXJPO”.

Users that do not have the latest version of the Samsung Kies software are required to update to 1.5.3.10103_100 before doing the update. The upgrade will preserve all installed applications and settings, so there's no need for backup.

The main improvements and features that the new Android 2.2 OS brings are detailed below:

- Google Maps with Navigation: GPS navigation system with voice guidance
- Faster performance by JIT (Just in Time) compiler
- Adobe Flash Player 10.1, which allows the web browser to make full use of the whole web
- Improved customization options
- Setup Wizard: Quickly customize the GALAXY S and access networks with ease
- Home Screen/Menu Preview and Edit : Preview by pinch-zoom
- Search in-Browser : Google, Translate, Wikipedia, Dictionary

In addition to the above changes, Froyo also adds the “Update All” button to the Android Market, so users find out about the latest version of their installed apps faster and easier.

It seems that more reports confirming the updated have started to pop-up.

Discussions about the new software upgrade have already been initiated by AndroidForums and XDA-Developers users, both saying that the update is officially rolling out now through Samsung Kies software.

I leave wireless on all the time, my phone has only ever needed 3 charges in a day when I was on holiday hammering games, internet and the camera and it wasn't exactly a normal days use
