Default Work giving me a Blackberry!

Choice of a Bold 9700 or a Curve 8900.

What says SN?

Oh and should I get a new SIM or have a new number to go alongside my existing works mobile?

Bold 9700 all the way

How many devices do you want to wander around with?

The Blackberry is a phone too, so you'd only need one device surely?

No complaints with my 8900 curve.
And, shock horror, it is a bloody good 'phone' and the battery usually lasts a good 3-4 days.

Got a curve personally, but the bold is meant to be a better phone so if you can have that you might as well get it.

Given the choice, 9700 gets the vote.
Trackpad over trackball any day lol.

Seriously though both are good, the 9700 is just a couple of years newer. Give them both a try if you can as the curve and bold have different style keyboards, both don't suit all.

Having to do a blind choice, I would get the newer one too
When you getting it?

The difference I speak of is the keys. The curve has individual keys with tiny spaces between, the bolds have all the keys seemingly flowing together. Going from a curve to a bold can be a pain, but going straight to a bold im sure you will be fine.

Hope it would be a Torch as even the Storm 2 is a bit old now. As a replacement for the 8900, I would suggest Torch if its touchscreen, hope so for your sake, as the Storm sucked (IMO) lol

Tell them to stuff it.

You'll end up answering emails at all hours and be constantly at work.

Steve is correct of course, its like offender tagging for us PAYE slaves, however, like today I took the opportunity to ignore it, 40th birthday, day booked off and I get called, much as I love my job I dont want a phone call after a nice lunch when I am having a post lunch beer induced kip, if you want someone there, pay more people to do my job !

Still, better than paying my frankly ridiculous bill myself I suppose

Can you not switch Blackberrys off then

My work phone goes into my desk drawer when I go home at night, and stays there if I'm on holiday

lol its not so much the device imposing itself on you, and demanding you answer emails 24/7, its the users obsessive behaviour and wanting to interact with the device

There are however apps out there to prevent it sending emails out of work hours.
