Default James May's Man Lab

Tonight at 9pm BBC2, could be good tv:

Your average male used to be able to make
himself useful, says James May, "but within a
generation he's been reduced to a feckless,
bed-wetting, parmesan-shaving imbecile".

James should not judge everybody by his own standards!

Entertaining.

Its not that hard to bull boots, just time consuming. I hated it, never had the patience.

Bit of a sellout to split the bomb disposal item up over 3 sections. Pandering to the media types who want to tempt us to sit through a boring bit so we can see what comes later. There shouldn't be any boring bits.

Agree that the railway system just seemed out of place and wrong. Didn't even show how to put it together and wire it up.

It could have been a great program but ended up a mish mash of self indulgent randomness

I quite enjoyed it, although i also felt that it was a little bit too random and that the program was trying too hard.

Perhaps it'll get better during the series.

Turned it off after 15 minutes. Watching someone polish boots, not exactly gripping stuff..

I actually thought it was a good point, I hadnt ever used a wet cloth to buff,

Was a tad weird but has to be better then some of the rubbish they do put on,
It was only the first show so could improve.

I found it flat and lacking too. Shame, as Mays usual offerings have been very good so far.

Exactly - now that James May has been designated "good telly" (because he really is!) the "meeja tipes" jump onto the bandwagon with the "spread as little content as possible over as long as possible" and "play at least five different musical tracks per minute as loudly as possible" production opportunities

Good honest (and educational) TV no longer exists, and even the BBC keep inserting "kaaaarmin' aarrp" every five minutes to allow for commercial breaks when a programme is sold to Discovery or whoever

I thought May had a bizarre transgendered medical condition

What an utterly **** programme this is!! It would seem Mr May has taken a leaf out of Hammonds book and just signed up for anything that pushes his Top Gear persona.

The first one I gave as a go as I thought he'd be settling in, the second one was worse. I'm not sure whether I'm going to bother with the one on the iPlayer from this evening.

Shame.

In the words of the immortal man himself....

sod off...

Real manism, as we all know, is being able to construct a superb memix cobbled together from a fading rock star's bellowing and a classic break beat.

Hence, I give you:
