Angry WHY?!

Why is nothing simple these days??

I paid for my Daughters Car Insurance a year ago using my Credit Card - as a Third Party Card, they need the 3rd Party to sign to say that they will allow continuous payments. I refused AND wrote to tell them to remove my CC details. I 'think' they wrote back confirming such (need to find it!)

Useful trick for you ..... but it only damned well works if the Insurance Company actually acts lawfully and destroys the CC Details.

So, now is renewal time .... DIAMOND have sent the renewal pack (obviously way too expensive) - BUT the cheating, thieving gits have stated that the renewal amount will be taken from MY CREDIT CARD!!!!!

Which is THEFT!!! I am FUMING!!!

Why is everyone trying to trick you?

Sounds like they are in breach of the data protection act whereby the details you requested destroyed should have been.

I had this with an antivirus software i purchased on the internet using credit card sometime ago. What i didn't know it was an automatic renewal, and could only cancel by phoning the company as was no option to cancel on the website. So i just called the credit card customer services number instead and got them to cancel it..Crafty ******'s

It should be illegal ..... what gives them the right to act like this?

I'm very aware of this scam ... so, take precautions against it - what I do not expect is them ignoring my distinct request!!

The policy holder would have received a letter stating that the policy is due to expire, usually a month before expiry, and unless you notify them, they will renew the policy automatically. It's common practice these days. I think you also have 7 days in which to cancel a new policy.

Very true, I would have thought that Facebook would be a much better outlet for his type of tedious and repetitive verbal diarrhoea.

Pete: read the letter carefully. I've had same with my lad's insurance.

What ours said was that they would take it off that card unless they heard different.

Just give them a ring.

It's enrichment for OAPs - a bit like feeding monkeys. If you put their food in a dish they get bored - hide it in hollow branches, pushed in the corners, it keeps their little lives interesting. The insurance companies do the same with awkward old gets

Spoke to them tonight .... quoted the Data Protection Act to them, mentioned compensation due to the distress caused .... they said it was an error (that's fine, but I have evidence that they said they would, and indeed had, removed my CC details from their system) - so, they lied!!

A suitable amount of compensation may be forthcoming for the sleepless night and worry - sorted

D/debits via c/card are v nasty as they're hard to stop & will get paid even if the card has been cut up & cancelled ... best avoided IMHO

As I found out to my peril with Orange. Years ago I had my company mobile phone being paid via my company credit card. Orange f**ked up and took overpayments for 6 months . I tried to cancel the DD on the CC, but I was informed that only Orange could cancel it Took months to resolve.

Glad you got it sorted Pete.

CC continuous payments should be made illegal .... as they never stop!

You can chop your CC up and they STILL pay out on it and charge you the money

Only the company can cancel the agreement ... avoid like the plague!
