Fleas on our dog
She gets them every now and again so I'll have to go and get some zapper stuff.
Have always used Frontline - is that still one of the best to use? Any other suggestions? Don't want to spend a fortune at vets if I can avoid it.
Oldish female Cavalier btw.
Thanks, David

I give Ella garlic occasionally... either raw, crushed or if she has chicken, I boil it with the garlic.. she loves the water
2 next month, and so far *crosses fingers* she hasnt had a flea on her.
Do you have cats, david?

We had a terrible time with fleas a while back, just caught us off guard and was not a good situation.
We used frontline, in conjunction with a spray and tablets ( over a safe period ) and for good measure fogged the house too just in case there were any hiding.

hehe, we had major issues with our cat, forntline and then house sprays and they were gone. he's since had an injection to stop them, but they can take several months (2 years i have heard mentioned ) to hatch out.
frontline will mena that nay that jump on him will die within 24 hours, they become walking flea terminators lol

Just wait until I get my Newfoundland. He'll be leaving some huge piles of foul smelling behind.
I imagine having a double coat may mean spotting fleas could be harder. I'll look into waterproof flea treatment as I'll be training him for water rescue

Double coats not only make them harder to spot, but a biatch to get out too. Combing is somewhat flawed lol. And bathing them is also not as effective as it could be.
But we got there in the end, just a pain trying to keep on top of the eggs when they appear.

We use Frontline on Fearless Freddie and it works well. We give him a regular brush and comb which he queues up for and after the Frontline treatment we rarely find any more fleas on the flea comb.

I was looking at a doggie-hairdryer whilst at the Welsh Kennel Club last weekend. The thing looked like a leaf blower!
