The BT Diverse range are good.
I've got a 2010 but the 2510 (i think) has an answermachine built in too.
If you know anyone that works for BT, they are getting a deal on these phones just now...£65.
Additional handsets AFAIK are £40

I too have heard reviews saying the little Samsung ones have crap sound quality. Mine is superb - I think that because it is so small, fat uncoordinated people have problems aligning the ear piece with their ears. Very handy with the hands free kit as it is genuinely pocket sized and you can wonder about whilst talking to people. Only critisicm would be that the base station does not ring and even on max volume the handset is not so loud you would hear it if not fairly nearby in the house.

martin,
i have the Zenia, and it is very good. My only complaints are that it seems to take a couple of seconds to actually connect to the base station when dialing, and it's small size can make it tiring to hold for long periods.
Good points include Caller ID, the ability to store number in the base rather then re-enter on every phone, handset speaker-phone and massive battery life!!!

I have the BT Diverse 3016 answermachine/basestation, and one extra phone with charger (doesn't need 2nd phone outlet) . Menu system is a bit poor but generally unused after first setup. then again, I think these are slightly old models now. Call clarity is fantastic, ringer volume can be set to frightening (well it scares the missis) and range is pretty good (I can go round a friends two doors up and have no problems)
Bear in mind you may need to keep an analogue phone plugged in somewhere in the house as you will generally not be able to use DECT during power cuts, etc)
Hope this helps

I have the Samsung SP-R6100 which is - IMHO - very good indeed. It looks the business, sound quality seems to be good (although I am only comparing against non-digital cordless phones) and all-in-all am very happy with it. I've only got the single handset but you can get more - or even buy one with more from the likes of Argos. However, there are better deals out there - I bought mine for example from The Link and paid £99 (same phone in Argos is £129.95) .... not bad, but try somewhere like kelkoo for a comparison.
