Thorpe Park or Alton towers ?
When we will be going, both are the same price, same distance from us so nothing to chose from, but we have 2 kids,5 and 7,so need more kid rides than the scary ones (but i do like them)
so,for people who have been, which is best suited for the younger ones ?
cheers

Sorry to p1ss on ZS Phils chips, but Flambards is dross, and everything that is bad about Cornwall (I hope he was joking). I just went to Thorpe Park on Saturday and it was magic, although the queuing got a bit tiresome. I refused to pay extra wedge for the queue jumper tickets, although I did bend at the end and buy a £3 ticket for Colossus.
Stealth is most excellent, it is so ferking quick!

Is legoland an option on your vouchers?(tesco?) We were there last week while down south, perfect for your kids ages, mine are 10 and 4 and loved it.
Only been to Alton towers years ago, thought it was more suited to older children, lots of height restrictions.
fwiw, i liked Flambards, great for the younger kids too.

Much more to do at Alton towers, but it's all spread about, thorpe park is a bit smaller, but not as much there.
I know you say Drayton mannor is more than you want to spend, but honestly, if you have young children, for me there is no question. Drayton Mannor all the way. Thomas Land is great for the adults too!!

For kids I would hesitate on Alton or Thorpe ...... LegoLand would be my choice for those ages.
If it costs more then it doesn't really matter if the day is better, surely?

I have never been to legoland. My son isn't into Lego (yet, maybe).
Is there quite a bit to do there? I imagine it to be a stay over night job (travelling from wolves) to get a full day out of it?

Drayton Manor was ok, but I was taking two under 5's, so Thomasland was great. My wife and I managed a few of the rollercoasters as well and they are not bad.
I went to Thorpe Park a month ago, and it was great, but as it was the start of the holidays for students, it was busy so we ended up buying tickets to jump the queues, which was worth every penny, but that was an extra tenner!!
Saw is brilliant, Stealth is incredible (there is a single riders queue on the right, where they us you to fill in the gaps left by odd number parties, much quicker than queuing!), Colossus and Nemesis are worth a go, obviously the water ones are more entertaining when it's warm!
IMHO Alton Towers use to be the one to go to, but after current experiences, Thorpe Park is the winner for me!

We managed to spend 2 full days there, (10am to 7pm) I'd imagine it'll be mobbed with the english schools off now, so probably a bit of queing. Plenty to do that doesn't need queued forthough.
The scottish schools come off earlier so we normally head south just before the english come off.

If you go to Legoland during the School hols, I'd advise getting a Q-Bot.

It's steep at £15 each but given all the offers around for Legoland, you can get in half price anyway. We used it last year and got on everything we wanted to in a day. We've got them for our visit next week too
