I took the mrs to Reykjavik for her birthday, booked through Iceland Air.
They had a load of special offers on when I booked (£290 each from Heathrow, 3 nights B&B).
Bl00dy cold though

Hi all,
Just got back from a short Easter break, and thought I'd bore you all senseless with some holiday photos
This was typical of the scenery - miles and miles of not a lot, covered in snow. Actually this picture shows more vegetation than most:
Here's Mrs C_772 looking decidedly unhappy at being asked to stand still in the blizzard to have her picture taken
This is a waterfall known as Gullfoss:
Iceland is a geologically very active country - here's a geyser known as Strokkur erupting:
Much of the time, the snow is so deep that dog-sleds are a great way to travel. Aren't they sweet?
About half the country's 280,000 inhabitants live in Reykjavik; a typical street looks like this:
...the weather is so changeable that we saw a lot of rainbows.
This building is the church in the city centre, you can see it for miles:
And finally, this is the view out of the window of the departure lounge in Reykyavik airport - anyone have any idea what the sculture is meant to be?
Andy.

Iceland....
Lived and worked there for 7.months. I could say other than Turkey ( married to a turk!!)Iceland is the best country I have ever visited. I was up in Akureyri. When I was there "Beer was illegal!!!! But the local "Brenavin" is a killer!! And so are the ladies.. No "Friday night curry sauce monsters"!!!
And can they drink!!!
It will blow your mind. Reykjavik has all the shops you could wish for and their nighlife makes London look pants.
O 'dont get me started!!

Excellent!
Always wanted to go there - in fact it's second on my list after Canada. Great Pics...looked like you had a good time!
All that geography and geology would make me quite happy...blimey, that sounds sad...

Yes - staggeringly so. For our first night's meal (2 courses each plus one beer) I paid 8340 ISK, which is almost £60. The next night was cheaper - about £35 - but the meal would have been more like £20 back home.

My wife and I went over to Iceland for a holiday a few years ago with Arctic Experience. We stayed the first night in Rykjevic (sp??) then hired a car and drove anticlockwise round the ringroad over the next 11 days, camping every night. You can basically camp anywhere you like in Iceland, just park the car and set up the tent. It was excellent and we saw a huge amount during our stay. We went the last week in May because the peak tourist season starts June 1st and it was much cheaper.
