Ever found anything interesting/valuable?
I was doing some cash-in-hand gardening during the school summer holidays way back when at an old Rectory that an ageing chap had been living in alone since the '50s. One day I was weeding the vegetable patch when something caught my eye. I looked down and instead of the usual broken porcelain, I had actually found a 5-6mm diameter cut diamond!
I had been feeling a bit hard-done-by that week as the old duffer had been seriously underpaying me for the hours I had toiled, so I thought "stuff him" and pocketed it without saying anything.
When I got home I showed my parents and got my Dad to take it to a jewellers in Hatton Garden, London to see how many thousands it must be worth.
Not so. They soon confirmed that it was not a diamond, but possibly a semi-precious white sapphire, with a value almost exactly that of the amount of money I felt I had been underpaid. The jeweller wanted a testing fee to be certain and we never got round to it. I have long since lost it again, so maybe one day someone else will find it and mistakenly think they have hit the jackpot!
I've still got no idea how it got to be in the old feller's vegetable patch in the first place though.
Anyone else stumbled across any interesting stuff like that?

13 or 14 I was walking home from school when a battered old ford transit van tossed a bag out of the window just missing me. I was pretty angry until I looked inside and found an aladins cave of **** mags. And not your run of the mill mags either these were proper hardcore dutch mags I sold the tatty/stuck together ones at school and made £60 odd quid and kept the lesbian ones for my private stash.
That was a good day.

when growing up used to go to Annecy, in France, every year for summer holidays and every year used to go up a local mountain called La Tournette.
One year my big sis lost a bracelet either on the way up or down.
Next year I found it on the way back down!
no monetary value but had great sentimental value to my sis as she'd been given it by a relative who had since died.

just remembered it was always great fun trying to smuggle them upstairs past my folks, half down the back of my jeans and half up my jumper, backing around the walls all the way up to my room! How my folks never spotted my SAS style entrance I'll never know! Aahh teenage joys!

Must something about being a lad, I remember finding one under a car by my house .. (how come no one throws **** around these days?) anyway.. I was about 10 and totally shocked by these pictures .. so much so I showed it to my dad.. who ripped it up and binned it .. I took the pieces out the bin and kept them for years LOL ...

found an SLR camera in about 98, all the long lenses etc in its proper bag.
took it to the police. got a receipt and after 28 days I went back and got it as no one had gone into claim it.
you see, honesty is the best policy !

Wow, I can't believe it! I was telling my Mrs the other day how when me and my mates were young lads in the mid 80's we would often find **** mags stashed in bushes or discarded in ditches haha, she never believed me.
It looks like it was a common thing then.
I've never found anything of any value though.

My Dad found a high-end Canon camera on a train from London about 15 years ago. All the accompanying documentation was in Japanese, so I guess it belonged to a tourist. He's still got it.
