Don't think there is much fair about it at all.
Still, its a nice little earner at £300 odd a day to go with his voluminous pension, as well as the large payoff to help him to get used to not having a job having left the House!

To be fair there are many others who have got peerages in just the same way, none of whom deserve them.
The difference here is that Prescott always maintained that because of his working class roots he would never want one.... imagine that, a politician with no principles, who'd have thought it
