This is terrible news, education and teaching standards have improved no end under NL. You only have tio look at the exam passes, SAT's etc to see that.

Kids leave brighter and better prepared, truancy and misbehaviour are down and i cannot remember the last time a child of school age got into serious trouble at school. Teachers are happy and feel fully supported as well.

This is one area that NL really got it right - God bless Gogs and Tone

It's mostly their attitude that's the problem...

To work anyway.

We need something stronger to clamp down on Teaching Standards ... not doing away with something without replacement.

Aye, that long summer holiday (5-6 weeks ) may compensate for the fact that this half term and indeed most evenings are spent writing reports that she is expected to complete in her own time (My missus is a 'specialist' teacher).

I have always said teachers have it hard, i do not know of anybody with a proper job who has to work late or at home and everybody these days take 6-7 weeks paid holidays in the summer. Those school hours must be tough, working to 3.30 each day. I am not sure just how they cope TBH

s noted.

At the end of the day, she knew all the pros and cons before changing from her well paid industrial job to return to Teacher Training College as she knew she would enjoy the job. She accepts the holidays are generous but this is the payback for the long term time hours (3:30 - and the rest!).

On the other hand, how would you feel about walking into a classroom full of disruptive and violent oiks who only want to wind you up to see how far they can get you out of your tree, and there is sweet FA that you can do to discipline them and make them behave. How much teaching satisfaction would you expect to get out of that lot?

Yes I realised that Paul and forgot the smiley. My mistake. I think I know how you really think well enough, but I wanted to make that point anyway.
