Default Dog attack story breaking

SN loves a good dog attack thread, and this has the hallmarks of a good one.

In my home town of Northampton.

American Bulldog thing + council house = 5 year old girl with facial injuries.

They should bring in a "Dangerous dog owners act" whereby the irresponsible owners as well as the dogs are put down when their loving dogs attack children.

Despite what has been said about the way the dog is reared etc. is it just a coincidence that it seems to be more likely with that type of dog?

Not really Les its just that a bite by any of the bigger dogs is condidered newsworthy whereas something like a terrier attack is not interesting to the same degree so doesnt get the press/public coverage

hopefully this will be the last time tat i write this (although i know it wont be!)
the dangerous dogs act covers all breeds of dogs, so therefore ANY dog can be DANGEROUS.
banned breeds is an entirely diffrent subject altogether but people still insist on merging the 2 together.
the result is uneducated know alls slating particular breeds that IN THEIR OPINION are a danger to the public. SAD. its just a shame "innocent until proven guilty" does not apply to our beloved pets unlike some of the mongrel kids living in our country.

Not sure if you realised but all carnivorous amimals are built to kill-its how they are trained from birth determines whether they will do anything about it.
The dog in the pic you found doesnt appear to be being agressive-its body posture is all wrong-looks more like its owner has taught it to bark on command and thats what its doing
A quick bit of light reading to perhaps show another side to the press induced mass hysteria that seems to be currenly sweeping the nation http://www.forpitssake.org/sar.html
cheers richie

In 99% of cases, it is the owner that is responsible for dog attacks, rather than the dog itself.

I've yet to meet a genuinely evil dog. Aggressive dogs, sure but, evil? No. Evil people on the other hand...
