My birthday present......

My birthday present......
........and shock horror it is not a gadget or Apple branded
Mrs Swiss has a bike, as do the ankle biters so it was decided that Dad needed one and it might be a good form of exercise for this fat duffer
Didn't want to spend a huge amount so a cheap and cheerful one was chosen from Halfords. I know it is not a fancy one and all you bike experts will probably scoff at the specs, but for the occasional bike ride with the family and the odd run down to the shops, it will be perfect for me.
This is when I got it on Sunday (and yes you lot, where were all my cards )
As you can see it has all the bling still on it including a very gay bell
Couple of mates came around later on the day and decided that I needed to 'butch' it up a bit and so off came the reflectors on wheels and front and back and the bell was transfered to the little one's bike
To give you an idea of how long it is since I last rode a bike, here is me on my racer a 'few' years ago which I painted and modded myself. Check out the HUUUUUUGE lights front and rear Yep, that is how big they were in those days with massive D batteries. I was really proud of it as you can see by my cheesy grin
When we bought it in Halfords, they offered their own building service which considering it was free, seemed to good to miss. So a few days later the bike was picked up. Noticed the handlebars and fork was loose so tightened that up and then set off down the driveway to test it. 10 yards in the bloody pedal came clean off
Blooming YTS nobbers had not tightened any of the pedals and it stripped the thread
Anyway it was all double checked again and went out for a ride on Monday.
God my **** was sore after only 2 miles !!!!

Knackered old combat shorts, dirty trainers, bottle filled with red bull and a pouch for my **** will do me
I can imagine the professional cyclists around here will be giving me looks of disgust

Happy birthday, and nice bike - mine from halfords was the same, after they built it I did it properly although I cannot get the gears properly adjusted and am currently running an 18-speed not a 21-speed

The lycra shorts, as hideous as they are really do work! Iwear baggy shorts over the top of mine, mainly to protect the innocent!
You free on Thursday next week, me and a mate are going here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMHZj...eature=related
