Pen mightier than the sword?
Let's hope so!!
In the first six years of the Iraq war 139 journalists died in conflict (around another 50 died of health related incidents or accidents).
Of these 89 were murdered and 50 died in conflict situations where they were caught in crossfire.
Of the 50, 16 were shot by the US military, caught in friendly fire.
117 of the dead were local Iraqis.
A sobering thought!
