I always thought gullwings were a bit gimmicky. The original 1954 300SL Gullwing had no choice due to the high sill tubular chassis design, but in pretty much all subsequent gullwing cars, it really isn't necessary.

Also not good if you roll one onto its roof and it catches fire, because you'll never get the door open to escape like in a normal car.

Great ad + car sounds awesome (enhanced at all?). Everyone must own a V8 before they die

Had did they get away with gullwing doors though? Thought they're considered too dangerous in the event of a crash ie if car lands on roof?

TX.

Eh?

A. This hardly ever happens (I don't know anyone that's managed it)

B. You go out through the screen? (that's what I did when I rolled my nova years ago!)

i.e. I'd happily take the risk to drive something that lovely

A. if the people who do it die horribly, you won't know anyone who has done it

B. That was a Nova, I had one too. I could have kicked my way out through the side of the car if necessary I'd not like to have to kick my way out of a modern car

You do realise it is a Dodge Viper - the only good(ish) part of Chrysler that Mercedes has made use of since their split...
