I installed it today, I am now running my 3g on a 3 mobile contract with unlimited internet, text and 3 to 3 calls for £20 a month!!!!
Only work of warning, make sure you are in a Wifi zone if you are planning a jailbreak! you will need to connect to the internet before your Sim will work.

Blacksn0w is an unlock for iPhones, so for the Touch it'll do nothing. Blackra1n however will allow you to jailbreak your iPhone and iPod Touch, however, for the newer touches and iPhones it's a tethered jailbreak, meaning that if you reboot the device for any reason, for example you turn it off and back on, or the battery dies, then you WILL need to connect it to a computer and re-run blackra1n to actually be able to use the iPhone/iPod again.
As some may have noticed, this is NOT something new as both sn0w and ra1n have been around for a little while.
Why would you jailbreak your iPhone/iPod, mainly to add applications that allow you to customize the phone in ways Apple won't allow you to. For example, adding a theme, or adding an application that will allow you to use skype over the cellular network, ie; using your data plan rather than your voice plan.
As an aside Geohot is rather good at what he does and he's just managed to hack the PS3, have a read here

I have read about this program, but as I tend to let my battery run empty before charging, so I would end up re installing it all the time.
Also I have two I phone 3g s' running off one account,so having to keep doing a re sync and changing options all the time would just get annoying.
Like has been said this program is not new. I knew about it months before I had the phone as I didn't want to be locked to only having limited ring tones, message tones etc. BUT as Mr P have found a way around that, there is no longer an issue.
