Default Trek bike frames

Anyone know where you can buy just a frame? I fancy building my own spec bike but can't seem to find just the frame to buy

There are quite a few frames sold daily on e-bay. Trek are OK, but not the be-all.

There was a titanium x-lite one sold two weeks ago for £280, THAT would have made a superb, lightweight, strong, responsive bike.

ebay is good for bike bits - I've build a couple of racing bikes using only parts from ebay. There's a few Trek frames listed in the Bike Parts section.

I own FOUR mtb's, two French £300 jobs with suspension forks, and two decent ones, one with a titanium and one with a scandium frame.

Hardtail, rigid forks for lightweight, unless you intend to do a lot of offroad. My light bikes are on Pace RC31 forks.

full suspension used for climbing and off roading at the weekends but then during the week it will be used mainly on the road to get me to work, budget is for about 1000-1100 for the frame then i'll pick the parts as i go.
i do like the treks especially the fuel ex8 but it's to much money to shell out in one go but then i like the colour of the frame of the ex5 but i'm not keen on the crank/brakes/gears etc. i suppose if i could get the ex5 but with the bits from the ex8 that would be good maybe i should have a word with my friendly trek dealer and see what he can do!!

An EX5 or 8 would not be a nice daily commute on road even with slicks. Just a bit too slack.
