Crime in England and Wales fell 8% in the third quarter of 2009 compared with the year before, the Home Office says.

The latest figures on recorded offences show there was an 8% drop in burglaries.

Car crime fell by a fifth and the number of robberies showed a reduction of 9%

Ministers say the British Crime Survey's separate study reveals that the risk of being a victim of crime has reached its lowest recorded level.

Great News.

Taken with the reduction in unemployment and the emergence from the worldwide recession - this is good for the country .. all we need is a good warm spring and we shall all be feeling rather confident in the future

There is no need to commit crime these days because Labour give the "na'er do wells" of this septic isle everything on a plate.

It will be recorded crime as apposed to reported. People report incidents believing them to be a crime when in fact they aren't
