Not saying they are crap, at all ...... just it's what I see strewn across the streets - they are the ones which have been abandoned.

Seen several BMW's abandoned over the last few days, always gives me a chuckle to see expensive new cars that are useless as i trundle by in my old bucket

I have only been driving rear wheel drive German cars for last four weeks of extreme snow oop North. I blame the drivers personally!

Some would say the only cars doing well in the snow are the 4x4's - it's just the drivers who are crap.

It's surprisingly how quickly you adapt your driving style tho. Ok rear-drive is always tough in the snow - especially for sportier BMW/Mercs with massive rear tyres, but since the snow began I've only been well stuck once and have otherwise managed.. (have been pushed quite a few times however..)

Clearly if these conditions were with us every winter then people would change to snow tyres over the winter like in Germany, Sweden etc - but this is not a normal winter!

Have to say I was quite surprised that I managed to drive round a stuck BMW 3 series in my CTR which is not a great vehicle in the snow itself. Couldn't resist a friendly wave as I did so either

Just wathced an E36 attempt to go up my road, it's not particularly steep at the bottom, but develops into a hill, dozy sod was giving it beans and sliding backwards, he gave up in the end and let it roll back, only to wheel spin it on the flat and go in the direction of another hill

I wonder if it relates to the physical car or the physical profile of the car purchaser

I find BMW traction control more of a help than a hinderance in fresh snow.

Well i work for BMW and they are good cars, but they dont like the snow. They are all over the place, you have to turn the traction control off just to get moving, but of course once you do that you are asking for trouble. But then in this weather most cars are crap not just german cars.
