Just watched James May's Toy Stories which i believe was the last of the series and couldn't put my finger on it but i just thought he'd officially grown out of TopGear in this episode.

Crackin' episode as well, loved train sets as a kid. I actually gave mine all away to my mum's boyfriends son. Broke my heart but I hate seeing stuff lying in an attic when kids could be enjoying it!

I think James May should be doing his own motoring show. He's got a degree, is a very good musician in his own right, plus he's very bright.

Best of all though he understands cars from a technical engineering point of view unlike those two other egotistical monkeys he partners with that are more interested in horsing around and trying to make TG all about them instead of about cars.

I think his toy stories series is great and again shows his engineering side. I hope JM goes on to bigger and better things!!

I long for the days when a motoring series similar to TG or Fifth Gear is made that is just about the cars and driving them. No ego's required, just a decent knowledgeable driver!!

Whilst JC is a reasonable (and sometimes excellent) motoring journalist, he mistakes being a bell-end for charisma; and RH is a one-trick pony. James May stands head and shoulders above either, although I doubt that he could front TG alone...

I just think he's good at what he does and i like his style as non TV celebrity as it is. I find him very down to earth and not up his own **** unlike JC and his hamster!!

He is the best presenter of the three, but rather than him out-grow TG, I feel TG has dumbed down to such a puerile level that he now looks out of place on it. This last series has seen me drift off onto the web out of disinterest a few times. I've felt this coming and voiced my feelings for a couple of years now, much to the irritation of the sycophantic TG fanatics who feel Jezza can do no wrong, but they have lost their way and don't seem to know how to get back, or find any new direction worthy of past glories. No chance of quitting whilst their ahead, the rot has well and truly set in IMHO.

JM's shows are always watch-able, but then so are JC's. His two WWII documentaries were excellent.

As above, Clarkson and May are both very good presenters.

Hammond of the other hand is far too cocky.

Have spoken to a few people who have met him, and none of them had a good word to say about him

Im not sure James May has changed one bit so how he has 'grown out of top gear' I do not know.

Didnt mind his toy series, although at times it was a little dull. Plasticine one for example.

Because Clarkson is a very opinionated person he will attract strong opinions about him and for the Clarkson haters I recommend you watch his documentary the Greatest raid of all time

Pre or post dragster crash?

It would be interesting to know if such a trauma does affect someone so much, and if he has then watched his old programmes and now acts the part of him od self. If that makes any sense.

The current series of TG does seem weak, but Andy Wilman posted on a blog about viewers concerns. It's good to see he takes time to see what the viewer thinks.

As for JM, I think he's excellent. He's cool in the "shouldn't be cool" kind of way. He always has a story to tell and appears to be fairly intelligent.

I wouldn't dispute Clarkson's intelligence. I believe he plays a part and what he stars in and publishes is measured to get a response, maybe not always reflecting his true opinion.

James May is a good presenter and all his programmes are very interesting. Clarkson and Hammond are equally able to present fairly well by themselves but when they are on TG, both them and the programme never seem to have grown up! It has also run out of ideas.
