If yes, whats it like? Someone gave me the dongle and reciever, but I'd need to by yet another ipod (the 4 I have aren't compatable). Just wondering if its worth it.
I've read that people have just attached the dongle to laces of non nike shoes and it works fine.

Yeah, the wife has one of the gadgets that fits inside a slot inside the shoe and links to the ipod/iphone. I have the Garmin footpod kit with heartrate monitor. Both seem to work fine although I think you get a bit more data output / graphs / history with the Garmin.
Garmin Forerunner 50 + Footpod: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo
Just ran my first ever 10K at Hatfield (The Willow Foundation 10K) 76 mins - room for improvement but chuffed to have completed it

I bought one of these ages ago. Was novel for a while but I hate running so I failed pretty hard at getting value from it. It was certainly consistent when I used to run the same route every day.

I have a garmon Foretrex 201, which is similar (all gps based) but doesnt need a dongle. Its other limitation is that it cannot have its data downloaded to a computer. So I'd have to get in from a run then get the pen and piece of paper out.
1 of the sales guys did the Hatfield 10k, TBH, we didnt think he was that fit. His time shocked the office
I'm not looking at running to compete, I'm looking at it to help with the other sports (shooting and reducing the pulse rate).

Nike+ is cool. Got me running longer and faster, great for motivation and graphing where you start to fail, push etc.
Data uploads to the website where you can chart your distance, average speeds etc, and compete against other Nike+ users.
Personally, for the money, I think its a great idea and device. Check out the website for a full tutorial.
We did a challenge on here a while back too

I'll have to have a looksee into it.
The trainers I used to use down the gym should suffice. Just need to get the pouch for the dongle.
When I trash them I'll get a much better pair, which shouldn't be too long since I live in the fens!!

I've got a pouch on my trail shoes (which are Nike but don't have the cut-out).
Current running (boom-tish!) total on Nike+ for me is 615 miles. Generally works well for me, I've "lost" one run this year due a synch'ing problem with my PC.
Nike sent me one of the USB wrist bands (no need for an iPod) for free but I've not tried it yet.

The sportsband is fantastic mate, especially if you are not interested in the voice feedback from the iPod version.
However checking time/distance on the move is slightly more awkward than pressing the centre button or whatever you use lol.
I like the audio feedback, but if you are just out on the move and not listening to music, the sportsband is the right way to go

Well after a the appointment with the medic/ physio, I'm £80 lighter on trainers. With my knee probs the physio condemed my old ones to nothing better than washing the car in!!! Oops.
Haven't seen the wrist bands, but if they work by arm movement then it wouldn't be good for me as I dont move my arms an awful lot (to used to running and carrying something).

Nope, the wrist band works in place of the iPod. Cheaper option so to speak. Just use the transponder in the trainers, and the band on your wrist. No £100 for a new iPod lol

Cool!!! Cheers
Was just going to chuck the ipod in the backpac anyway. No way would I fill my ears with something for road running.
Theres next to not street lights round the roads here (live at the start of the fens). Mind you, I'm not sure I want to be running around unlit B roads either!!!!

Yeah I have done about 4 maximum before downloading it. Data on the screen of the band will show "current" run data, but USB will download the whole lot once you plug it in

Cheers for the heads up guys. I bought 1 of those bands yesterday.
Just got to wait for the dongle pouch to turn up now and I can calibrate it. The neighbour is also looking at getting 1 now as well She is close to refusing to talk to me, when ever she does she ends up spending money, first it was torches, now its sports kit.
She will get her own back though, we've agreed to be running partners. She's fed up of her other half who smokes 20 a day whipping her *** Mind you he is a squaddie so should!
