Not paying a credit card bill
I`ve never missed any kind of payment in my life and would never dream of trying to run away from a debt. But just imagine someone was owing about 4K to a card company and was also moving house. The card company has the old address and an e-mail addy. How hard are they going to try to get that money back?

well if you never reregistered for council tax or the election register they would find it harder to find you, but I imagine it wouldn't be that hard unless you live your life paying cash only and so on.

Wind it back 20yrs (when I was at Uni) & it was virtually impossible for them to track you down if you moved. Mate of mine used to rent houses for a few months at a time then move. He ordered loads of stuff from magazines & never had to pay a penny for any of it. Existence of Equifax etc has probably put a stop to all that though ... doubt that you'd get away with it today.

as said, they will sell the debt and the new owner will chae, they will find your address even if you are NOT on the electoral role, even if you register a car at an address they will find it out via dvla etc.
it is worth doing tho if you dont have a mortgage,in the end if you oweed £4k you can go probably 2 yrs without paying anything towards it,ignoring the letters thru the post then they will offer you a final payment to end the fiasco for probably half the original amount, ive known a few people do this the letters amount to nothing,a caller will be round in x amount of hrs, yawn !!!

As long as, after you move, you never do anything that gets you updated on the credit reference files, you may get away with it for a relatively small amount like £4k.
As mentioned, your credit rating (at the old address) will be trashed though. You may even get a CCJ against you for the old address.
If you have a unique name or spelling of a common name, you can be found more easily too.
Reckon on at least 3 to 6 years of being in the financial wilderness. And don't even think about getting a mortgage or moving again during that time.
Certain companies do credit checks for new staff too.
