Barbados, Almond beach village hotel. Anyone been?
Going there in a few weeks for a two week break/wedding.
Any tips for Barbado??
What money is accepted. Barabados dollars and USA dollars i hear.
Has anyone been to this hotel, if so, what should I expect?
Thanks in advance
Jamie

Almond is ok, but has seen better times. You will have a good time though, the beaches are gorgeous and the people generally friendly and the place is safe with good roads etc. Not much to do though, except splash around in crystal clear water, walk on fine golden sand and drink cold beer and rum cocktails!!
Enjoy.

8 times and love the place!!!
Not to your hotel, but the Royal Pavilion up the road.
Have to agree about Oistins on a Friday night.
You pay in US dollers and get BD$ in return. The people are friendly.
Hire a car and tour the island on your own.
Lovely part of the world, I hope to retire there when Im older
Have a Fantastic time !!

Do you mean the food in Barbados is crap or at the Almond. If the former, then I disagree. I would recommend The Cliff, Pisces, Aqua. All very good, Cliff is expensive but does have good food and nice ambience. If you want cheap and cheerful, but still tasty and fresh, the Just Grillin' is good.

I remember a friend - (worked in the travel industry) who said that she had a meal on the last day of her holiday in Barbados that although v good cost more than the flights !!!
for the record Tuscany in Italy has to be my favourite - the food is sublime, - Cape Town in SA has very very good food and pretty cheap too
ps - all imo -- and i am a bit of a food snob
anyway v churlish to complain -- Barbados is a very nice way of spending a few weeks

Sure, I'm know there are far nicer places to eat in the world. My own personal taste is thai/vietnamese/cambodian etc, now that really is cheap, and is my own personal favourite. However the food in Barbados is far from crap, and probably better than many parts of the carribean. It is expensive though, but then everything in Barbados is expensive including taxis, car rental, property etc.
On the whole, between the restaurants I mentioned before, and a few I can't remember I found the food quite good. I'm fairly fussy about food, but no gastronomr though.
Oh yeah, and there is a KFC and TGI Friday's! LOL

Chefette is cool, especially for a late night snack. Wish, have you tried Just Grillin'? Their grilled mahi mahi with Caesar salad, griddled potatoes and chilli sauce was to die for. Lots of the locals eat there, it's open air and the rum punch is cheap and tasty.
