Hi Folks,

I want to book a holiday considering the following criteria, and am looking for recommendations;

I have 3 small kids 9ms 2yrs & 3yrs.

Don't really want a very long flight with minimal transfer to destination.

UK out as the weather is unreliable and its expensive.

We want stuff that we can do as a family.

Don't want to spend the whole time on the beach and not too hot.

I want to go sailing, waterskiing, wet biking maybe diving. Probably lucky if I get to do one of the above.

Not bothered wether self catering or hotel.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Cheers
Andy

Andy,

I've got two sprogs (4 and 9mths). This is my tip (hope I'm not stating the obvious here).

I really like Minorca. The quiet side (near to Cuitadella), is great during September. It's a relatively short flight, not to hot at that time of year (mid-late 70's but guaranteed sun).

Some really good self catering units that are not too dear as it isn't the main season. Beaches are clean and not too busy, and the diving is superb almost everywhere around the island.

Car hire dead cheap and island not big so travelling to other than beach places is not a problem.

Mail me offline if you want anymore details. I can recommend a couple of places that we've found brilliant as a family.

Hope this helps.

Cool

There's a Thomson superfamily holiday complex in Majorca I'd recommend - it's in Cala Bona which is fairly peaceful, very safe for kids, pools, entertainment etc . Let me know if you're interested and I'll find out the name - a number of families we know have been and they all loved it.

Kevin.

If your other half lets you do all that, can she speak to my wife

Hi David

I did qualify that by saying <B>"Probably lucky if I get to do one of the above."</B>

Last holiday I was unlucky and got to do none of the above

Andy,

I'm with Blubs here, Minorca is a great place for a quiet (ish), family friendly holiday.

Alhough I don't have kids, myself and my partner prefer the quieter life. Plenty to see and do on Minorca.

Cheers

Ian

Just returned from Minorca (Sunday night) on a 1 week package deal with JMC.

Stayed at Cal'n Forcat (extreme west of the island) in an area with plenty for kids to do - bouncy castles, creche & kids' clubs at apartments etc.

Couple of cart tracks on the island too - I spent more money on this than anything else - but my 4 year son loved it, particularly shunting some fat Kraut into the tyre wall

Plenty of water sports available too - free beginners lesson available in our apartment's pool.

Do hire a car - though not Clio reg 3205 BJG!! Found it possible to wheel spin in a 1200cc with the aircon on full blast

Don't go at the height of the summer though - far too hot!

I'd recommend JMC as an operator too - everything was well organised & even the flight back during the coach drivers' strike was only 20 mins late.

Can recomend Mark Warner, they are brilliant.
Kids clubs fab, and the water sports excellent. They are a bit pricey but you can save a fortune by a late booking.

We have been to Sandina north and South.

North bigger and more to do
South quieter and great sailing (no water Sking).
