Just got married. paying in cheques.
Hi all,
Just got married on thursday and got quite a few cheques.
Whats the deal with paying them in the bank when Mr and Mrs Gray are written on the cheques and my wife hasn't changed her surname with the banks yet?
We want to pay them in tomorrow morning and not sure if they are going to tell us to change the wife's surname first before I can pay them in my bank.

Congratulations!
If you take the original marriage certificate (NB not a copy - I got sent home 'cos of this! they have to take their own copy of the original) they can change your wife's name on the account at the same time, assuming that's what she wants to do.

just as long as your name is on the cheque it should not be a problem. btw dont put the wifes name on your account if its not already on there cos then she can see what you got in there and take it
