ANYONE HELP WITH A VW POLO DIAGNOSIS?
My dad's VW polo is playing up and we are stuck for ideas - any help / advice here would be really appreciated. The car seemed to judder / hesitate under acceleration so we assumed this was ignition related (no engine management light was on).
We carried out a basic service including plugs, filters etc started it up but same problem. I noticed an air escaping sound and narrowed this down to the intake. When the accelerater was blipped slightly air is being released and making a loud noise (like a VTA dump valve sound but this is no turbo!).
I am now wondering if the engine internals are OK as I also noticed what I think is petrol coming from the exhaust.

Check that all the vacuum hoses are connected and not split. Failing that, if it's single point injection, check the big rubber gasket thing between the injector unit and the inlet manifold, they some times split.
