Anybody stuck to the chair ?
What were the white flashes on the screen?
The missus tried it, although she did not "embrace the image", and she kept waffling on about "what if we have a power cut and everybody is stuck" during the film
Suffice to say the only thing that is stuck, is me to bloody her

I am intrigued on what the white flashes actually were on the screen
I was never going to "stick" anyway, i was lying on my back on the sofa scratching my *****/checking for cancerous lumps (perfect excuse)

Nope. Going to try again when shes in bed.
In relation to the giraffe stunt, when Derren got it right, instead of saying ''how did he do that'' she said ''why would you get someone a giraffe as a present?''
Thats what I'm up aginst.

heheh - really enjoyed that one as I have been studying the subject for the last 6 months.
To take the question what were the flashes (and an audio cue as well), it was a picture of a guy, hands tied behind his back and legs tied, sitting on a chair (thank you HDD recording!)
A lot of what he does is actually in the language. If you have a recording, play back the opening section where he is on stage and addressing the audience. Notice how it doesn't quite sound right? Isn't a correctly constructed sentence?
The actual sticking to the chair is Ericksonian converstional hypnosis. The actual noise and spinning pattern is kind of a distraction (although does serve to deepen trance), the heavy lifting is done in the lead up to it (as the camera slowly zooms in on his face). There is also suggestion after, the whole "TRY HARD to get up" This implies you will fail. The currently held theory is that 30% of the population is suggestible to an extent that things like that show will work.
That section is classic hypnosis. Enjoyed it though

Not stuck here, and I "saw" the non-subliminal image and it still didn't work, I really wanted to experience an ( non-alcohol induced ) paralysis !

I can only think that the 30% or so that this works on are feeble minded. Sure I'm subsceptible to subliminal messages, ie hear a tune being hummed and start humming it myself, see an advert for a McCrap burger and fancy one etc.
But to take off my shoes and give them away to a hobo???
Anyway, I wish I'd studied this stuff when I was younger, might have helped me get my nuts in more often. I did used to wear a T Shirt with the subliminal message 'fancy a ****?' But that never worked, except for the time some old bloke bought me a drink and then tried to bum me!

We were told that at school, though the teacher who told us used to just take us out in the minibus if the lesson got boring.
