Probably their "Intelligent" lighting system

The idea is it lights up the curb when turning.

In reality it turns on and off at random, and makes people at junctions unable to see the indicators due to the dazzle.

And yes, alot do go on the fritz, turning the nearside fog light on and off when there is no need

Useless feature, EU should not allow it. (under construction & use, blah blah etc)

Options on some Mercedes-Benz is bi-xenon headlamp wash, dynamic range adjustment and cornering light function in fog lamps.

Wifey's Disco3 does something similar. Works fairly well actually.

Surely illegal as you shouldn't use your fog lights unless visibility is down to 25m or something similar.

I think the new Octavias have this "feature" too.

Sounds like a totally pointless feature, I seem to manage without them, quite easily

Average beam length of a fog light - 8m

Highway Code stopping distances at 30mph - 20m

They're good at lighting up something you are definitely about to hit

No ya farking weirdo but I don't need another set of lights to be able to drive in normal weather conditions. Maybe some need more help on the roads, maybe some shouldn't be driving in the first place...

My J reg Toyota Soarer does this. Indicate with your headlights on and the foglight comes on to show you round the corner.

Hella Dynaview looks like the famous 1000FF, but has two H3 bulbs per lamp controlled by a signal from a yaw sensor, one for corners and the other for straight ahead.... even has a cool fader effect so no sudden on/off transitions.
I think it's cool but slightly pointless unless you live at the top of the Stelvio Pass.

My old subaru legacy had the same features. It didn't use the fog lights but another set of lights. I disconnected them as they were pointless
