Man Lives 2 Days Stuck In Windshield
Hit-And-Run Victim Eventually Dies In Driver's Garage
POSTED: 8:06 a.m. EST March 7, 2002
UPDATED: 7:29 p.m. EST March 7, 2002
FORT WORTH, Texas -- A man who was the victim of a hit-and-run lived at least two days trapped in the driver's broken windshield before dying in the driver's garage in Fort Worth, Texas, police said.
"I'm going to have to come up with a new word. Indifferent isn't enough. Cruel isn't enough to say. Heartless? Inhumane? Maybe we've just redefined inhumanity here," a prosecutor in Fort Worth told Fort Worth Star-Telegram about the October 2001 incident.

Is A Murder Charge Too Harsh?
Police arrested a 25-year-old woman Wednesday -- a nurse's aide -- on murder charges in the man's hit-and-run death, according to the Telegram.
Police told the Telegram that Gregory Biggs spent at least two days trapped in the broken windshield of the car that hit him. They said the woman who was driving the car, Chante Mallard, drove it home and kept it in the garage -- and heard Biggs begging for help before he finally died of blood loss and shock.
According to a police statement, Mallard panicked, and with the man still lodged in the windshield, she drove a few miles to her home, parked in her garage, and ignored his pleas for help until he died. His body was later dumped in a park.
The mother of the homeless man, Meredith Biggs, said she wonders how the woman could have let him die the way he did.
Police said Mallard told them she had been drinking and was on drugs at the time she struck the man, and that she panicked.
But Meredith Biggs told the newspaper that she wants to know why the woman didn't call for help after the drugs wore off.
Mallard told police she occasionally went into the garage, apologizing to the victim. The impact had hurled him headfirst through the windshield, his broken legs sticking out onto the hood.
Mallard's attorney said police are overreaching in charging her with murder.

Sorry, but throw away the key. How can people be so concerned with what will happen to them as to let another human die by their hands to try and get away with it. To leave him there like that is truly sickening.
I just hope that is fake, because it quite frankly scares me that there people walking the planet like this....
Cheers,
Nick

Unbelievable - just read this in the Telegraph. I wondered if everyone would be quite so laid back if this had been a child or some prominent member of society instead of a vagrant.
They should give this woman the bullet.

Obviously not right in the head.
"Mallard's attorney said police are overreaching in charging her with murder."
Sometimes the lawyers seem to be disappearing up their own backside.

How can it be over-reaching to charge her with murder?!!
Sod the drain on tax payers money by keeping her in a cage, kill the bitch!
Doesnt get any sympathy from me,she had the power to make it good again and save his life, but she decided to let him suffer until he died.No sympathy for whatever happens to her.
What a sad story, and a bit scary too.

Lock her up in solitary for ever and every few days come into her cell and appologise for incarcerating her.
Anyway it begs the question, How the hell didnt anyone notice her driving round with a man through the bloody windscreen??? Maybe they did, who knows??

This is incredibly sick, and agree that it is scary such people (if they can be classed as that) actually exist. Surely she will get the electric chair for this. No excuse for being under the influence of drugs or alcohol as it lasted for 2 days or more. The world becomes a sicker place every day it seems.

Lock her up and throw away the key - apparently (Sky News) the guy bled to death and had no other internal injuries - had she gone for help the guy would have been fine !
He was completely aware of what was going on and she let him die
Infact I agree with some of the others - give her some of her own medicine !

Poor guy ,what a horrible death,to think of the pain and fear he must have been feeling.
As for her,no excuses for what she's done, she deserves the electric chair.

I heard a story on a few drunk and drugged female pilots last year, USA as well. The flight training was called off after they hit three buildings! They shot a fourth plane with a female pilot down before she could reach an urban area. Damn! (Of course, they didnt say they shot it down, they said it crashed).
Why does this story make you so angry? She apologised!
The bump was probably drunk as well anyway...

"The bump was probably drunk as well anyway... "
1.if this is youre idea of a joke then you really are a sad if not obviously slightly retarded individual.
2.no email address in your profile???? no surprise there
3.i was going to say something that would have brought me down to youre level and have just thought better of it.
4.youre mental capacity obviously requires some considerable sympathy and maybe even institutional care so my heart goes out to you and i hope you get better soon.
