Does your child go to Martial Arts?
Doing a bit of market research here
If your child goes to a Martial Art could you be so kind to answer the following?
1. Which Martial Art
2. Child's age
3. Class duration
4. Class cost (nightly/monthly etc)
5. Value for money? Yes/no
Cheer folks

Eldest goes
Shotokan Karate
Age 9
2 lessons a week 1 hour each
Lessons are in the evenings 6.30pm to 7.30pm during term time, cost is 2 quid a lesson
Value for money yes, as its walking distance, the eldest really enjoys it, and is now on Yellow Belt
She has been going for a few years now
Edited to add, she 'pays' an extra 10 pence per lesson (as all the other kids do) and every christmas this money is used to take all the kids to Panto and get them a small present each

Both kids used to go to Jujitsu.
2 times a week ,£5 per 1 hour lesson .
Both got to Junior Black Belt (not full until 16 I think .)
They dont go now as they seemed to get bored of it .
Wife goes twice a week ,free as she teaches .Been going for about 16 yrs now, still seems to enjot it .

4(boy) and 6 year old (girl)go to Shotokan Karate and love it.I can't remember cost as I pay quarterly - one hour a week in local sports hall.
Good for balance, co ordination and mental discipline, all of which helps in other sports as well, and if it means they can tell the playgroiund bully to go fek himself in several years time then so much the better

2nd from the left,
News - What's On?: Cheadle area including Cheadle Hulme, Gatley and Heald Green (SK8)
he does moan about going from time to time, he go's to football as well, but thats getting binned, and he can keep going here.
i see it as an investment in ten years time, he wont stand for any messing about now, but with all the knife crime, and drugs about, im sure it will get worse befiore it gets better,
so i wont him to be able to hold is head up high be respectfull but not scared of anybody,

Correct ,my kids are not the least bit aggressive ,but if we are messing about and I go to clip them round the ear ,the reaction is there to get out of the way .!!
And thats how it is supposed to be .I dont want them scrapping every day ,but it is good to know they are prepared .Its more about commanding respect without having to prove yourself all the time .

its a classic line
talk quietly but with a big stick.
thats what karate lets them do.
they express themselves non agressively but with that little hint of dont **** with me,
sams teacher is 65 and i tell you you would not **** about with him

Wado Ryu Karate
11 years old
1.5 hrs
Once weekly, £3.25, evening session.
Good value, but belts expensive especially if your child progresses quickly.
Mine's on Orange belt, which is the fourth one, after 1.5 years.
