Well, you live and learn.
About a fortnight ago, a guy on here was looking for some small parts to put his classic back to standard, one of which was a gearknob.
I PM'd him and offered mine for free if he paid postage.
He agreed to do so, so I duly sent it off, but to date, have had no response: no indication of whether it arrived safely and certainly no postage.
Now I KNOW it's only a couple of quid, but it's the principle, isn't it?
I shan't bother in future, one dishonest person spoils it for others yet again.

sorry to hear you have had a negative experience like you said it spoils it for others but must say I think the majority of scoobynetters are genuine folk

Common decency to at least reply and say thanks ,I have received it .
I gave a spare alloy to someone on here not long ago .They came to pick it up and wanted to offer me some cash ,even though I said I did not want anything .Thats being genuine .Did not take anything from him ,but he did reply on here thanking me ,so not everybody wants to take ,take ,take .

I would say that generally most people here are honest, do what they say type people. I've bought a couple of things and have always been impressed.
I'm sorry you have come across someone who isn't -- hopefully they have been on holiday or something and unable to send you the money / thank you.

I'm not sure it was in there, the thread title was "looking for", but of course, Scoobynet's marvellous search won't deal with that, too vague.

A good lad on here sent me a newage flange/takeoff he had spare so I could easily relocate my PS pump in my classic. Didn't even ask for postage - all i have to do is buy him a burger next time we meet, which is usually bi-annually. So if I bump into him at TOTB I hope he can manage a half pound cheeseburger - last time I saw him he needed fattening up
