Saw a tree get struck by lightening
On the way home from work last night, about 1/4 mile ahead a tree was hit, it lost all its leaves and was left standing but in black and white/strange and eerie looking.
It was an amazing sight to behold, never seen it in the flesh before and reminds you of the awesome power of nature

A tree got killed at the end of our street last year, about 50 yards from my house. Split it in half!
Most of the Sky tv boxes in the street got frazzled, and my upstairs tv went pop. Some plug sockets popped out of the walls in the estate behind us. Bonkers!

... or if you have any choice.
I got hit indirectly when lightning hit a chain link fence and I was closing the gate during a thunderstorm. Irony is I was a weather observer based at RAF Wattisham at the time.
And yes, it hurts, no, I didn't hear a thing and apart from burns that lasted several months, I'm totally fine.

When I was 14, I was cycling past a tree trying to beat a storm home, about 30 seconds after I passed it, it got struck and set off a gas main. I just gone around the corner and apart from papping myself I was unharmed. Loads of damage done to the surrounding houses, though.

When i bought my scoob i was driving it back only to have one hit a tree a good 30 yards away, you could feel static throughout the car, felt very disconcerting.

I do love a good storm.
We were close to a strike a couple of years back in Tampa and again in Orlando this year. Always amazed by natures fury and love it to bits.
That said, I have now come as close to a strike as I wish to, twice lol

Now you would think that seeing that would give us a hint? Nope. We had to wait until a tree up the hill from us got hit before we legged it.
Simultaneous flash/bang and then the sound of tree raining bits of itself is not a thing you want to experience.
