Heat-Health Watch
I'm trying to remember how we all survived before we had the Heat-Health Watch from the Met Office ...?? See Met Office: Heat-Health Watch
**** me. This is all over the media, well, the Beeb at least. Must be part of the 'advancing the GW scare' propaganda .... Don't get me wrong, *some* people need to know when it'll get scarey hot but how does it work if the *threshold* temperatures are different in each region ?? Let me see, the advice is "... Advice: Heatwaves can be dangerous, especially for the very young, very old or those with chronic diseases ...". So, the threshold temperatures seem to be higher in regions with more people. Does that mean if you have more neighbours then you're less likely to be at risk of dying from heatstroke????
Anyone else agree that this is a load of old bollux?

err - what was the question again - it was over 2 minutes ago that I pressed the reply button
Oh yes - Heat-Health - All I know is that we haven't had a summer like '76 since approx 1976 - so the global warming bollux does indeed seem to be just that !
Obviously people do have to be careful when it's hot - but I don't need anyone to tell me when it's hot - I can usually tell by what everyone is wearing .

I see what you mean (I think). I suppose that if it is above freezing in Scotland than that is considered dangerous because it would take a while to remove the layers of cardigans, while Londoners are more accustomed to high temperatures due to the heat pollution in the city and so can tolerate a higher temperature.
But what if I live in the North-west and am visiting london? Will the London Health Service treat me at a lower temperature than a local?
However, different thresholds opens the whole system to political meddling. If you have limited health resources in an area then increase the threshold temperatures for that area so the local Health Service doesn't have to do anything special.

I loved listening to the silly bint from the Health office or somewhere droning on about the best way to deal with the heat.
Dont go out in the midday sun - scuse me missy but we are british, we rarely see that odd yellow thing in the sky and bollocks to you if we want to nip outside for an ice-cream and a lie down in the park
Wear a wide brimmed hat - we are not all ****ing crocodile dundee you know
and her best one whilst listening to this in my hot car going to work
Try to avoid using the car or buses - and how the foof are we meant to get to work
