i am buying a house, for tax reasons i am buying the fittings seperate but the total of their value is less than it needs to be- the seller has priced the conservatory blinds at £350 for 10 window blinds and £340 for 7 ceiling blinds (its a 10 x 9 room)

i allways thought blinds cost LOADS, is it possible to do a room for under £800?

i appreciate it may be poss to spend vast sums, i need to know if it could be done for that sort of money at all or if that is an undervalutaion.

if that makes sense

have a look at www.web-blinds.com

you're right, sounds too cheap to me. I'm guessing you're trying to push the value of the house below the stamp duty point (i.e. below £250k?)

All forms of stamp duty **** me off anyway. I mean, there's no MIRAS any more so the money you buy it with has been taxed anyway. If you've earnt it, it's been income taxed and NI'd. If you've inherited it, it's been inheritance taxed.

Edited -- I looked it up on the inland revenue web site.
1% for 60k-250k
3% for 250k-500k
Something else thereafter.

Hey Tiggs,

Just paid an 8.9K Stamp duty bill (what is this for? all that money for absolutely f**k all, I think it's 5% over 500K) so anything I can do to help you! My friend just had his 4mx4m conservatory done and the total cost was just over 3K.

You've probably thought of this but garden fittings are a good way, sheds etc. Also lawnmowers and the like..
