I came across this the other day.
Was told my postage price was too high, the maximum was £0.00 !
They make nothing from postage, so dont care do they. Arseholes!

I've been saying this for years, and i've been in touch with Google about it.
It's One of the most requested/asked about things for Google.
BUT - The amount of staff they'd have to recruit to run it is huge which is the main negative for it.
It's in their "ideas" list but not currently being worked on...

Can I ask what you would do in the case that you go collect something in person?
I've done this a few times for even small purchases? Do you still pay the same price or would the seller knock the "postage" cost off. If so, we may go from astonomical P&P costs to literally pence as the con artists who used to make the profit from P&P, try keep hold of it and not deduct fairly.
Anyone else thinking along these lines?
I swear Egay are taking advice and ideas from the Labour party LOL!

I've sold a couple of computer books (ie big and heavy) on there recently, and made a loss on the postage as it limits you to £2.95 or something for p&p on books. Take off the greedy final sale fees, paypal fees and listing fees and it's hardly worth bothering a lot of the time now!

If something had a high postage cost i'd just email the seller pointing this out and let them know that unless they redueced it to a fair level i would report them to Ebay and their sales and account would be suspended. 99% of the time they reduced the cost
I.E the old system was perfectly self policing and worked ok.

They are pushing it to see how far they can go before it messes with their profits. i.e. they have done this as people will put a higher minimum on their items. ebay then get both a higher listing fee and a higher sale fee (effectively they are looking for fees on postage now, whereas previously it didn't touch them).
Best avoided.

Have to agree with Nat, now. It's just not worth it any more for the "weekend seller".
I just wonder how much of this is motivated by the desire to do away with cash sales, and pick-it-up-in-person, both of which lose money for them.?
I personally will sell littele or nothing now via e-bay.

Damn, I was just thinking about listing a bunch of stuff on eBay to see if I could get it all shifted.
Can you still list things for collection only? The sort of listing that allows people to pay cash on delivery, and maybe just maybe the item breaks on the day so you don't have to pay eBay fees? Totally sick of them taking the ****.
Users have to do something to hurt their profits or they are just going to keep going like this

I have sold bundles of my kids old clothes. they usually sell for anywhere between £10 and £20 but the accurate postage can cost up to £12 as they are large parcels.
I doubt people would start to bid if the staring price was £12. Looks like the clothes will be going in the charity bags (I used to donate a portion of the sales price to charity on Ebay).
