Every single day I drive along runways which were used in the D-Day Landings ....
During World War II Aldermaston was the site of an airfield where Spitfire fighters were assembled.
It was also used by the United States Army Air Force for glider operations on D-Day.

One of the men who drove the landing craft was on the tv today recalling his memories. He took 32 american soilders to one of the beaches, and then witnessed every one of them getting gunned down, whilst he could not do a thing about it.
He said he has had to live with the memory and the picture of thier faces plus the guilt he has felt sending them to thier death all his life.
I cannot begin to imagine how he and many others cope with the horror they have witnessed.
Thier saccifice must never be forgoten.

I visited the German War tunnels in Jersey last week. I'd been there about 10 years ago but they've improved facilities and the information since. In one of the tunnels, a particularly sombre one, I think every adult left sniffing or with a tear in their eye, myself included. It's unimaginable what everyone had to go through in those wars and we all have a duty to pass on that respect to our next generations. RIP to all those who fought.

What's the point of fighting for democracy and free speech if people are rounded upon for exercising that right, however unpalatable? (that does not extend to people breaking the law BTW, before you start).
For me, I think we do owe them a debt of gratitude, for the record.
