Question

How come it always seems to be "older" people on the programme, even though it says you have to be at least 16 to enter. You don't even see them on "fastest finger"

Just thought I'd ask coz I'm bored !

Question

Do you have to do some sort of general knowlege test before you are chosen to appear on the programme ? Surely, they don't want any time wasters on the show. Maybe this would explain why there are not so many younger people appearing.

Has anyone here applied to go on the show ?

What I find odd is that the phone-a-friends always answer the phone in the same number of rings. They must be all on the line waiting to be connected

Yes, and the 'phone-a-friends' are never out, on the bog, on the job, or think it's a wind-up when Chris Tarrant calls.

You can just imagine if your phone rung

Him: Hello - Its Chris Tarrant here
Me: **** off and stop pissing about - who is it really
Him: No really
Me: Yeah right - call me back when you wise up

The programme isn't live, so that's how all the "phone-a-friends" are always in and answer within 2 or 3 rings.

Tracey - that also stops the peeps on ur "phone a friend list" from watching the program and sitting at their pc ready to search the web for the answer.

I can't really see 16 year olds answering the questions they ask on Millionnaire to tell the truth, and Nikko is right, the phone a friends are all in a a little room with a phone, and they act so surprised lol

My mate was one of the 10 fastest fingers last year.
He took me along for the day & I sat in the audience, met Tarrant & spent the day with him being papmered.

The show is recorded the afternoon before (thats how the press find out about £1m winners before the show is aired)

If you are on the show you are asked for several phone-a-friends who are called by the producer to check they are ok to do it.
They are then asked to be free & by the phone for the afternoon.

Before they record the show they do a practice run with Chris Tarrant & they also do a screen test to ensure the clothes that they have brought dont clash with the surrounding set - if they do they have a wardrobe contestants can dig into.

Show takes about 2-3 hours to record - there is lots of stopping/starting. One contestant tripped over the chair so they had to record that bit again !

After the show there is free booze & food plus they put anyone who wants to stay up in a Hotel.

They ask contestants to arrive at the studio in the morning so they can relax them a bit before the afternoon recording.

When my mate did it he rang the contestant line, left his answer to the question posed & his details.
He then got a call saying he was one of many who answered right & got posed a second question - what was the length of the Titanic in feet?
He just guessed & later was called to say he was one of the 10 closest & was on the show tomorrow !!
He guessed & was within 3 feet of the answer - lucky sod.

He came away with no cash but it was a great day out

Ro.
