Default congratulations paul palmer!

I've just returned from a thoroughly enjoyable day at time attack, silverstone. Never been to TA before, but I had to be there to see my longtime friend and onetime SN mod paul palmer at his first competitive drive, in a 700 bhp R33 no less.
Despite it being his first time and despite oil from a leaking breather pissing all over his windscreen after just one semi flying lap in the final, paul managed a very impressive 6th overall and 4th in class. Up until then he was ahniallating everything in his path. After the first practice, he was second fastest, the only thing faster was a TVR tuscan.

This comes as no surprise to me, I have known paul for a long time and his skills as a wheelman meant I have every confidence in him. This man has what it takes to deliver in time attack, just you wait till he straps a reliable car to his back.

Pictures will be uploaded when I get home, but In the meantime, congratulations paul!

Bloody hell, was wondering who the hell the bloke was tinkering and cleaning all the oil in Lister's engine bay I should have asked Neil or Paul..doh !!

We were the ones with all the kids in tow and hanging around Evil Panda and Dill's car

A fantastic result from the car and testament to Paul's skills as a loony driver and Neil's dedication to the car and it's setup. It is a shame that the oil breather ruined what could have been a great result.

I took some pictures on Paul's camera from Luffield so hopefully you can get to see the car in all its glory

Congratulations to should go to Phil as well

Good result mate and as you say, if you can drive him in the car after belting it around the track, then it is a good day

right, here are a few pictures!
When I got to the venue (late, I should mention) I knew I had to make my way to garage 7b. When I got there, here was the sight that greeted me, one skyline R33 GTR.

Specifically, this was one with a problem

The oil breather was chucking oil out in the turns, but the next race was due, so Paul got ready.

After the first practice, things were looking good.
Did I say good? bearing in mind paul have never driven competatively before, had never driven the car before and had only driven a car with half the power he currently now had at this command, I think this result:

Goes beyond "Good" and is bordering on herculean. Here's paul looking happy with himself.

Deservedly so, when you consider the competition.

Well done paul!

Nice write-up mate I had driven the car before but it was only a few laps on a trackday at Brands last year and that was only for fun I've only driven Silverstone once and it was in a Skyline with half the power as you say

I loved 4 wheel drifting around copse, it was a corner I feared at the start of the day but came to love it very quickly Roll on Brands Hatch and a reliable car I must say that despite the issues I drove the car home with no issues, top job

Believe it or not I've got a few I would have posted them up yesterday evening but by the time I'd got home, had dinner and edited them down from over 500 frames, there wasn't time to blank out all the number plates and get them up.

Will do it tonight

yep! and I did it with a smile on my face too

Like I said at the start, I have been continually impressed by Paul's driving ability and when that picture was taken we were under the impression the leak had been plugged and only the oil that was left in the engine bay could get on the windscreen and ruin his chances.

I don't just think, I know paul would wipe the floor with the rest of those chumps who were lining up, all he needed was a car that wouldnt let him down.

By that yardstick, I was more than happy to rob the nearest toilets for all the bog roll I could find, get my hands dirty and clean every last drop of oil I could find. Even if it only gave him an extra lap, it was worth it.

All of us who were there to cheer on Dunc (Dynamix) were pretty hopeful after him coming first in the practices, but its another good solid 2nd place! It was then just constant bickering between those of rooting for RCM and Zen in the Pro class.

Looks like we were wrong but never mind. It was a fantastic effort though mate and we got through best part of the day without it causing me too much trouble

Neilo has uploaded this video to youtube from the morning warmup session, sadly there is no sound because the microphone gave up the ghost

Duncan had a top quality result and I thought he was going to take the win!
