Default The summit of man-ness - a new shed... inspiration please?

So, I've been given permission to get myself a new shed. Rather than have it turn into another random storage area, I'm purposefully going to be turning it into a workshop - primarily for the car and whatever little projects I have going.

The shed I'm getting is about 9' x 10' 6" ish - windows in one side, wooden tongue & groove floor, and a double front door. I was planning on lining the inside with ply or chip board, and filling the cavity with some kind of insulation. Mounted on this will be however many plugs I decide I may need (I'm considering 8? - all correctly wired and fused!!), and two independently switched florescent tubes mounted on the 'ceiling' either side of the apex.

Any shed experts or aficionado's out there wish to comment/advise/or provide inspirational shed pictures?!

In my case floor mounted lights to find the bits/tools I've dropped....

OH and a first aid station, plasters, eye wash, etc.

Music system, now't too flashy.

Fridge - cider - erm.

B*ll*cks, just sit and chill and crack a bottle.

Yip to music system.. however, my older brother made the above mistake, and whenever I go around to help him work on his Manta or the Range Rover, we always end up more than half p***ed and decide it's probably not a good idea to be waving grinders around - which results in us getting bugger all done..

Well whatever you go for, if you build it yourself, don't do what I did.

Had an arguement with the wife, and this shed was a two-man build. Now with me being a stroppy git, I built it on my own (just to spite her)....

Laid the slabs level for the base - check.
Put down the base - check
Put up the 3 sides level - check
Put up the door end with the transport screw still in place - check. Oh Bugger.

I'm inside the shed and can't get out!!LOL!!

After the consumption of a SERIOUS helping of humble pie, I had to shout my wife to come and unscrew the door!

I wasn't prepared to her to have the camera though!!

Hey ho!!

check exactly what insulation you use -- some are much better than others

maybe a roof vent -- could get hot in the summer

This is what I would have in a shed

Sad to some I know. I've got my layout in my loft though.

I am somewhat a shed afficiando, 2 "Normal sheds, a garden store and recently have extended one of the normal ones with another tool store, very pleased with my amateur woodworkign attempts, the wife was expecting epic fail but kind of just showed ambivalence rather than mirth, which I took as praise.

But the piece de'resistance is my man shed, cant put the piccies up as am at work and photobucket is blocked but its a cabin, 10 by 15 and full of tools, a telly (courtesy of J4ckos mate), a pc (well several), wireless range extended aerial type thing, Xbox, fridge, proper electrice (buried armoured cable, proper isolation box), couch, surround sound, alarm.

Also have half of the garage which is another little male only area, another pc mounted on the wall for MP3 duties, tools, Nitro car, my bike etc, another beer fridge, a decades supply of crisps, I could live there for a year, only problem is the missus tends to deposit crap like jumble in there.

As a man, you need a shed(s) in you life

Nah, wouldnt mind an extension but the house is a decent size, you are missing the point of the man shed, despite the size of the house a shed is a female/kid free zone.

Here is mine, was a while ago, its much more cluttered now !

I am tempted to stick together an old PC in there... it makes it easy to display exploded parts diagrams from the Subaru program. I could put the monitor on the wall right above my workbench... hmmmmm..

Wifi is a worry - I might have to rearrange the location of the router.....

A REAL man would carve his own shed from a solid block of wood.

I just got a decent aerial off eBay same coneftor as the normal tiny one but a long lead to a box on the front of the shed also edimax wireless PCI cards seem the best. I get eighty plus percent signal seventy feet from the router.
