Oh God, you have my sympathies. Yes. I have been there. I had to go back after two weeks as I had an infection. Anti bios did the trick. I was so careful too. :shudder: Horrible things

Sympathy here too, I had mine done at the dentist rather than hospital, all four - the two on the left done on one visit, the ones on the right done a month later. The second trip was the worst as I knew what to expect ! My recovery was straight forward and without complications although it was 'uncomfortable'

My advice would be to your dentist and get it checked. There is every probability that its normal, but it is (as mentioned above) possible to get problems, infections etc.

At least if there aren't any problems you'll know the pain won't last much longer - if there's a problem it could be weeks, and you'll get the "why didn't you come in earlier" response.

Yes, it is normal to see the hole left as they're big *******

Hope you're feeling better soon

Gareth

You are all very kind....

The worst thing is (apart from the toothache pain) is the constant taste of fluid from the wound running down my throat. Its like a salty-bitter-sour taste...... yuk

This has got to be worserer than child birth..!!

Sounds like a "dry socket" to me...the blood clot is lost and healing is delayed with a lot of pain. often the bone is exposed.

Best get it checked out. Usually the socket is irrigated out, packed with an artificial clot and Metronidazole prescribed.

HTH

Sorry for the pain Felix.

I was lucky, mine were sorted by an RAF dentist. He had some kind of an extractor which clamped onto the tooth and when he squeezed the handle, it just pulled the tooth straight up and out with no drama at all. No hassle trying to loosen it first with a pair of pliers or anything.

Hope it clears up soon anyway.

Best not try the childbirth though.

I have one on the bottom, and two on the top. I thin the bottom one needs to come out, but the top ones are ok. I am now thinking maybe I wll leave it alone!

Haha it was not that bad. The device clamped on the tooth and the other half rested against the jawbone somehow. As he squeezed the handles the clamp pulled the tooth up against the lower bit which was pressing on the jawbone. Must have been very low geared!

Felix, I had this exact problem about 3 months ago. Midlife is right, it does sound like a dry socket infection.

I had it for 2 weeks and the only thing that got rid was a special packing that they put in the hole. It looks a bit like tobacco and tasted like **** but it did the job in 48 hours for me.

I was told the flap of skin was only painful coz it was connected to the infection underneath. i would go back to your dentist and get it seen to mate.

Good Luck
