Just a quick message - regarding the chat about crossovers.

Have a look for a guy called Linkwitz Riley.
This is the person who has developed a crossover network that has NO phasing between the drivers, using 2nd & 4th order filters.

CHeck it out.......

SD555, just to clarify, an L-R crossover ONLY has no phasing problems if both drivers are positioned exactly in the vertical plane - this if far easier with home audio speakers than car speakers, which are often not only on a separate plane but in different locations!

Time alignment can help cure this but that tends to be expensive!

Pretty much the _most_ important thing in a car audio installtion is speaker location: cheap speakers aligned and set up properly will almost always sound better than expensive speakers just chucked in the car.

For an excellent article on L-R crossovers, see:

Yeh Kryten,
The phasing occurs on the vertical axis, not the horizontal axis.
Technics tried (and failed) a few years ago to come up with a 'phase-free' speaker system, by designing an enclosure with 'ledges', however, this just caused more reflections!!! D'Oh!

I'll check out that site :-)
